This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining highly effective and efficient operations across multiple pharmacy branches to support the development of Relarex, Reliance Health’s pharmacy benefits management program, into a self-sustaining and high-performing business unit.
The role holder will leverage data and technology to train and supervise pharmacy staff, liaise with pharmaceutical companies to procure high-quality medications, implement quality assurance programs for medication quality, and oversee the performance of logistics vendors to ensure service excellence.
This role requires strong data analysis, leadership, effective communication, and strategic planning to optimize pharmacy operations and contribute to delivering high-quality patient care for patients and enrollees across Nigeria.
- Train and supervise pharmacists and technicians to effectively manage medication therapy for diverse patient populations with acute and chronic conditions.
- Ensure full compliance of the pharmacies’ operations with relevant pharmaceutical regulations, quality standards, and internal protocols.
- Drive the operationalization and growth of newly established pharmacy branches.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers, importers, and manufacturers to enable cost-effective, high-quality sourcing and ensure supply continuity.
- Oversee end-to-end distribution operations, including inventory management, fulfillment logistics, and cold-chain integrity where applicable.
- Routinely evaluate and produce reports on pharmacy performance, medication utilization trends, and patient outcomes highlighting areas for improving quality or operational efficiency.
- Nurture a positive team environment that motivates team members towards excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including tech, clinical, finance, and customer service—to enhance prescription fulfillment process and customer experience.
Requirements
- Must be a trained and licensed Pharmacist/Pharmacy Technician with active registration in Nigeria.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a pharmacy setting, experience in a leadership role will be an advantage.
- Proficiency in Excel, Power Point and experience with data reporting and analysis.
- Strong understanding and experience managing excellence in procurement and logistics within a pharmacy context.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and drive technological advancements within the team.
- Experience with pharmacy management software and electronic health records (EHR).
Ideal Profile
- A licensed Pharmacist/Pharmacy Technician with a blend of clinical and process improvement expertise, excited by the challenge of scaling pharmacy operations through technology.
- Experienced in digitally enabled or tech-driven pharmacy environments, with an understanding of how digital systems enhance pharmacy services.
- Strong operational acumen, with the ability to interpret data, shape strategy, and execute with discipline.
- Team builder with a collaborative, hands-on approach to execution and a track record of successfully implementing quality improvement initiatives within teams.
